One of the great things about Strummerfest is the amazing people that gather round it.
One friend of Strummerfest, who wishes to remain anonymous, chose to support our goals in the memory of a son who died by suicide years ago, by presenting a Joe Strummer 001 box set to auction as a fund-raiser in support of
Your Life Counts and Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council.

In response, Strummerfest and some of our 2019 performers, decided to sweeten the pot,

With a retail price tag of over $80 (usually), the Joe Strummer 001 box set includes 4 vinyl discs containing an array of Joe's recordings, including tunes performed by Joe on his own, in groups including the 101ers, Joe Strummer & The Latino Rockabilly War, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, the Astro-Physicians and Radar, as well as with some of his favourite collaborators including Paul Simonon, Jimmy Cliff and Mick Jones.

The 3rd and 4th discs in the set feature 12 previously unreleased tracks, including Joe's solo remake of the 101ers "Letsagetabitarockin'", "Crying on the 23rd" with The Soothsayers, and "U.S. North" featuring Joe along with Mick Jones.

As you know, Strummerfest is entirely not-for-profit. Unfortunately, that also means we don't have the funds to finance fancy software, or to hire a developer to build us the only actually free online auction system that's out there (that we could find). So, in our typical D.I.Y. fashion, here's what you have to do... email your bid. The minimum starting bid is $75. Subsequent bids are to increase in minimum (i.e., you can bid more) $5 increments (e.g., $75... $80... $85... $90... $95... ... ... $15,965... $15,970... $15,975... you've got it, right? ).
For our part, we'll do our best to update you here on the most recent highest bid. (Or, if we haven't got around to that when we get your email, we'll respond by letting you know if there is a bid higher than yours, and how much that is.)
Email bidding is only available up till noon on Friday, August 2. After that, all bidding must be in person at Strummerfest 2019, at Waterloo Public Square. (Of course, we might make an exception if your late emailed bid absolutely blows all the others out of the water. It's for charity, after all, and we're not idiots.)

The successful bid will be announced just before The Lucky Ones hit the stage at 10:05 on Saturday night. Payment of the successful bid amount is to be provided in cash or by email transfer within 24 hours, or the next highest bidder will be selected.
