IF YOU REACHED THIS PAGE...
... then you already have an idea about what this is about.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, and the uncertainty all around, we're not going ahead with Strummerfest 2020. Sponsors who had already earmarked or given us funds were pleased to get them back, to be sure that they can be used for more urgent needs, like saving jobs. But this doesn't mean that Strummerfest just ups and goes away. Nay nay. To the contrary, we've got a special project in mind.
Really, this project comes to us from Your Life Counts, one of the charities Strummerfest has supported since 2012. In fact, here's a note from YLC CEO, Ruaraidh Butler.

HERE's WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR
FROM YOU...
Sometime (ideally within the next 72 hours) ...
.
1. Please record (on your phone, tablet or whatever device you have) a video ( just 15 seconds to one minute would do) of yourself delivering a short, positive message of hope in spite of current pandemic fears and encouragement to the viewer to donate to YLC. (Make sure you also mention that you are participating in the Strummerfest 2020 YLC Video Challenge.) *Hey, if you need help figuring out what to say, email us and we can send some suggestions.
.
2. Post your video on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook , or wherever, and be sure to include hashtags, tags and links that will direct people to YLC . Especially, please link your video to the YLC donation page.
.
3. Share the video with your fans, followers, friends and family (and us). Again, be sure to include hashtags, tags and links that will direct people to YLC and share the link to the YLC donation page.
When posting and sharing in social media, if you use the hashtag #Strummerfest2020YLCVideoChallenge we will be more certain to find it, and you can find each other's as well!

AND HERE's WHAT WE ARE giving back...
Yes, yes, we know the warm feeling you get from supporting a good cause is a reward in and of itself, but here's what we'd like to do to say "thanks" to you for participating in this event...
.
1. On both the YLC and Strummerfest websites, we will include a link to your video, along with the following information:
- a link to your website or Facebook page or whatever site(s) seem best (i.e., whichever you tell us to use)
- a few lines about you and your music (if you know what you want us to say, tell us; otherwise, you will be relying on
us to make stuff up)
- a promotional picture, if we have one (send us your best, or favourite anyway)
and an expression of our gratitude.
Please email the information, links and material we need to [email protected] and [email protected].
.
2. Strummerfest will be resharing your links in and telling everyone how wonderful you are for doing this, probably for the next year or more.
.
3. Joe Strummer will be smiling over you. (Well, okay, we can't really promise that, but we are pretty sure he'd agree that this is a great thing for you to do. After all, he's the one who said, "without people, you're nothing," and that "people can change anything they want to, and that means everything in the world.")

If you've got any questions, let us know. In the meantime,
we really hope many of you will be able to participate, and we look forward to seeing you all (well, as many as can be) at Strummerfest 2021.
