An ambitious fundraising campaign by The Joe Strummer Foundation. #StrummerJam (running the entire month of August 2016) invited volunteers in any country and city in the world to host events, collecting money for the foundation or for a local music non-profit of their choice. The objective of StrummerJam, according to Steve Mullen (campaign coordinator and digital media manager for the Foundation) is: “keeping the spirit and memory of Joe Strummer alive.” by helping others through music. It was an ambition and a modus operandi Strummerfest understands, agrees with and was pleased to be a part of, presenting the first and (that year) only Canadian contributions to the StrummerJam effort.
